So by now many of you know that I have a friend, his name is Pedro. Pedro
is a parasite and Pedro is almost or already dead. Sorry if some of you are
confused I'll explain better. A little over a week ago a nurse came to teach us
some first aid and mentioned the symptoms for parasites...well they sounded awfully
familiar, I'll save you the details. So the next day Erin took me to the doctor
here in Mexico and he diagnosed me with parasites. So until Saturday the 17th,
I'm on a restricted diet (well as much of one as I can be while eating Mexican
food) and have to take medicine at every meal. Really though, digestive
parasites aren't that big of a deal, they happen all the time here, and I will
be fine. But it has been an adventure that's
for sure!

And another thing before last night we didn't have the A/C on at all in
our dorm room. I'm sitting in a very cold dorm room right now, which makes me
feel like I'm back in the workroom at UTeach. Why the sudden change you might
ask? Well the girls' dorms have bed bugs in them, which means we are trying to make
it really cold so they won't like it and will die. Bed bugs can only live for a
few days without human contact so we are washing our sheets every day and are
leaving the A/C on for a few days. We have been told not to get used it though.
As soon as the bed bugs are gone so is the A/C. We have to get used to not
having A/C when we sleep to prepare us for Swaziland, Uganda, South Africa, and
Nicaragua. =)

We are still learning from each other and growing in the Lord. Please pray
that it continues. Also be praying for safety – we are working with another
project (Missionary Training Institute) on a construction site. No one has been
hurt besides a few blisters but it's always a much appreciated prayer. And also
please be praying for team unity. Thanks!

This week we are learning about organic gardening. I'll post pictures
later but it's been a fun week. There is one more blog to come about the past
week's events and then I'll get to the organic gardening stuff. Love you all!

Katie
