Hey everyone!! This has to be a rather quick post as we
leave for the airport in 7 hours and I still have to take a shower and finish
packing my carry-on. As I type this it’s chaotic in our room. Everyone is
trying to fit all that they brought with them and everything that they bought here
into our bags. Clothes are everywhere, the sounds of zippers fill the air, bags
are being weighed one by one, and others are trying to get some sleep before we
get on the planes tomorrow. My team flies from Harlingen to Houston, Houston to
Dubai, Dubai to Johannesburg. Our flights begin at 1:30PM on Monday (CST) and
we are in transit until 10:50 AM Wednesday morning – Johannesburg time (that’s
2:50 AM Wednesday – Central Standard Time).  From there Pastor Gift will pick us up and drive
all 7 of us the 6ish hours into Swaziland (my team of 5 plus our 2 leaders that
will be with us for the next two weeks).

Closing out this portion of the trip is bittersweet. I’ve
very much enjoyed my time here and will greatly miss all that aren’t going to
Swaziland with us, especially some our leaders and some the base staff here
that we might not get to see in May when we go back to Houston for debrief.  But as I go through these goodbyes I know that
I am going to the place where the Lord has been calling me for almost three
years now. I expect it to be hard. I expect to be broken. I expect to have my
world rocked. I also expect to grow closer to the Lord and to know him more
intimately than I ever have before.  It’s
going to be an amazing journey that I can’t wait to share with all of you.
Thanks for all of your support, prayerfully and financially for making this
possible.

I may not be able to post right away when I get to South
Africa/Swaziland so please don’t panic if you don’t hear from me for a few
days. Instead they will probably post on our team site that we have made it to
our countries safe and sound. Follow the link on the left hand side of the page
to our team blog.

Oh and random but if you are ever curious to know what time
it is where I am, go to this website – http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/
and look at what time it is in Johannesburg.

Love you all!

  1. Oh Katie, I am going to miss you. I know you’ve been away for a while already, but you were on the same corner of the continent as me, within relatively easy driving space, if need be. But now, in Swaziland… Well, let’s just say I’m incredibly thankful this is a place the Lord has called you and that we can rely on Him to protect you. I’ve learned so much about trusting God from you, you truly are amazing and fearless when you rely on Him.

I love you and can’t wait to hear from you again when you’re safe!!!

  2. Katie, I’m so exctied for what the Lord is going to do in and through you in Swazi! I loved getting to know you here in Mexico, and will be praying for you!
