Ahh…where to start? Maybe with the toothpick.
Wednesday the 7th, we ate taquitos for dinner and they had
toothpicks in them holding them together in pairs. Molly never saw it. So when
she began coughing and saying something was stuck in her throat it took us a
few minutes to realize that she had swallowed it and that was now lodged in her
esophagus. We got the leaders attention and they quickly decided we needed to
drive to Harlingen to let the US doctors there to do whatever they needed to do
to get it out. I went with Tana, Erin and Molly. After a stop at the clinic,
Molly went to the hospital to have the toothpick removed but started coughing
up blood and was moved to the ICU after Erin and I left and were back at the
base. Some of the other leaders, Brittney, Becca, and Tag left to be with Tana
and Molly. This left us with Blair and Jesse who then told us that were going
to stay up all night praying, which was fine by all. Something broke in all of
us as we began to literally cry out to God on Molly’s behalf. We once again
became even closer as a community fighting a battle for our sister that was
only going to be won through the Lord. This continued until about 2 AM when we
got word that the doctors had used a scope to search her throat and could find
nothing. So we went to bed praising God that Molly was ok. The next night we
again saw the Holy Spirit moving in us in miraculous ways. In short, sins were
confessed, lies from the enemy were broken, and life was breathed into many!
Molly was still feeling pain though so she went back into Harlingen with some
of the leaders. Again she eventually went into the hospital because of the pain
and after a few days needed surgery. Our team had the opportunity to pray with
Molly before she was put under. The doctors went in using a scope, found the
foreign object and removed it, but it was major surgery.

So now Molly needs time to take care of
herself. She is going home for at least a week or two to have the rest and
recuperation that wouldn’t be possible here with our schedule and the care that
must be taken with her digestive system. For our team, it leaves us feeling
like a part of us is missing. Our leg isn’t there anymore. The leaders gave us
time before telling the big team and poured into us the night we found out. We
talked, prayed, and worshiped together as a small team before going back to
join the rest of our family. I then took off with Erin for some time away from
the others. It was a beautifully cool night as we walked and talked for an hour
and a half about anything and everything.

On Saturday the entire team went into
Harlingen and had closure with Molly. No one but the Lord knows if or when she
will return, it completely depends how her recovery continues to go. We all
know home is where she needs to be and that the right choice is being decided.
We know, but it doesn’t stop the pain that comes from this separation.

Please be in prayer for Molly, her family
back home, and our team here.
